The Swiss project developer Mettler2Invest and the German-based MOTORWORLD Group have given the starting signal for a far-reaching project: A versatile ensemble is to be created on the site of the former Maggi works in Kemptthal. Alongside a classic car and sports car centre, highly innovative companies and numerous service providers will also find space and development opportunities here. Over the next few years, around 2,000 jobs will be created at the revitalised location, which is steeped in industrial history.
Situated between Zürich and Winterthur, the former Maggi plant with its own railway station and two nearby motorway junctions offers ideal transport connections. Zürich and the airport can be reached in about 20 minutes, while Winterthur is only ten minutes away.

History & future
The origin of the building ensemble lies in Julius Maggi’s idea of producing food and flavours. It is the constructional likeness of an entrepreneurial vision that was later continued by Nestlé, and to this day by Givaudan, and which is still extremely tangible. The historical buildings will be preserved and transported into the future. The heart of the revitalised area will be MOTORWORLD Manufaktur Region Zürich – a meeting place for people with a passion for mobility. The fact that Switzerland boasts the highest density of classic cars and supercars anywhere in the world speaks volumes in favour of this concept.
The idea behind the classic car and sports car centre is to create a home for glass boxes, retail outlets, workshops and service providers devoted to premium quality and classic mobility on two and four wheels. It will also offer appealing facilities for events and conferences. A broad range of companies – from innovative research and development institutes, retailers, handicraft firms, scene specialists and service providers, through to a hotel and eateries with diverse cultural offerings – will be moving into the 75,000 square-metre-large location.
