The use of the website and the services offered by MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG may, in some cases, require the collection, processing, and use of certain personal data. We place the highest priority on data protection and data security and comply with all applicable data protection regulations.

I. Collection and Storage of Personal Data

Personal data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (e.g., name, address, phone number, date of birth, or email address).

“Processing” means any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, distribution, or any other form of disclosure, as well as the matching or linking, restriction, erasure, or destruction of your data. All of this is done exclusively in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.

To a certain extent, we collect and store data generated when you use the website (usage data; see Section 1). We collect and store personal data to the extent that you provide it to us in connection with the use of our online services, e.g., when registering to receive online publications, processing inquiries via our contact form, or via email (inventory and content data, see Section 2).

1. Usage Data

No prior registration on the website is required simply to visit the MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG website. In this case, your web browser automatically transmits the following information, which we store in what are known as log files:

Browser type and version
Operating system used
IP address of the requesting computer
Date and time of your visit to our website
Website from which you visited us (Referrer URL)
Website you are visiting
Access method/function requested by the requesting computer
Input values transmitted by the requesting computer (e.g., file name)
Web server access status (file transferred, file not found, command not executed, etc.)

We store these log files exclusively for troubleshooting and security purposes (e.g., to investigate attempted attacks) for a maximum of 60 days, after which they are deleted. Log files that must be retained for evidentiary purposes are exempt from deletion. These are stored until the respective incident has been fully resolved and may, in individual cases, be forwarded to investigative authorities to identify and trace unauthorized access to the web server and other criminal offenses. In addition, we may analyze these log files statistically and anonymously to optimize our website. This anonymous data is stored separately from any personal or content data you may have provided and therefore does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about a specific individual. After analysis, this data is deleted.

2. Inventory and Content Data

If registration is required to use our online services, or if you otherwise provide us with personal data via the website, MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG generally collects and stores the following data:

Title
First and Last Name
Phone Number
Email Address

In addition, there is information that you provide to us on a purely voluntary basis, which may contain personal data. We list some examples of such voluntary information below:

Address
Phone number
Age, date of birth
Nationality

3. Purposes of Processing and Legal Basis

If you submit inquiries to us via the contact form, we will store the information you provide in the inquiry form—including the contact information you provide there—for the purpose of processing your inquiries and in case we have follow-up questions. We will not share this data without your consent.

The processing of the data entered in the contact form is therefore based solely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time. To do so, simply send us an informal notice. The lawfulness of the data processing operations carried out prior to the withdrawal remains unaffected by the withdrawal.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request that we delete it, revoke your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g., after your inquiry has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions—in particular retention periods—remain unaffected.

If you would like to subscribe to the MOTORWORLD Bulletin offered on the website, we need your email address and your name, as well as your consent to receive the newsletter. No other data is collected. We use this information exclusively to send you the MOTORWORLD Bulletin and do not share it with third parties.

The processing of the data entered in the registration form for the MOTORWORLD Bulletin is based solely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You may revoke your consent to the storage of your data and email address, as well as their use for sending the MOTORWORLD Bulletin, at any time—for example, by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in the subscription form. The lawfulness of data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by this revocation.

We use the above inventory and content data exclusively to the extent permitted by your consent.

4. Duration of Storage

We store your data for as long as is necessary to provide our online services and related offerings, or as long as we have a legitimate interest in continuing to store it. In all other cases, we delete your personal data.

II. Cookies

When you visit the website www.motorworld.de, so-called cookies are used. These are small text files that are stored locally in your web browser’s cache; they enable the browser to be recognized and allow us to receive certain information. They enable us, for example, to make your visit to our website more convenient and user-friendly. Cookies do not store names, addresses, or email addresses; they store only an online identifier. Once the respective session ends, this data is removed from the session; the session cookie is deleted.

If you wish to prevent the use of cookies, your browser allows you to block the acceptance and storage of new cookies. You can find out how this works for the browser you are using by consulting the browser’s help function, for example. However, with such browser settings, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use all features without restriction. Please note that objections to the creation of user profiles sometimes work via a so-called “opt-out cookie.” If you delete all cookies, your objection may no longer be taken into account and you will need to submit it again.

III. Social Media & Plugins

This online service uses social plugins (“plugins”) from the following providers:

1. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies,” which are text files stored on your computer that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of the website is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the United States. However, if IP anonymization is enabled on this website, your IP address will be truncated by Google beforehand within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data held by Google. You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser settings accordingly; however, please note that in this case, you may not be able to use all features of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the websites (including your IP address), as well as from processing this data, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link : http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Please note that the Google Analytics code on these web pages has already been extended to include the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” to ensure that IP addresses are collected only in an anonymized form (so-called IP masking).

We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google and fully comply with the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities regarding the use of Google Analytics.

This website uses the “demographic characteristics” feature of Google Analytics. This allows for the creation of reports that provide information about the age, gender, and interests of site visitors. This data is derived from Google’s interest-based advertising as well as from visitor data provided by third parties. This data cannot be associated with any specific individual. If you do not wish this to occur, you can disable this feature at any time via the ad settings in your Google Account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described in Section VII, “User Rights.”

2. Instagram

Our website incorporates features from the Instagram service. These features are provided by Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA.

If you are logged into your Instagram account, you can link the content on our pages to your Instagram profile by clicking the Instagram button. This allows Instagram to associate your visit to our pages with your user account. Please note that, as the provider of these pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or how Instagram uses it.

For more information on this, please see Instagram’s Privacy Policy: https://instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/.

3. Google Maps

Google Maps is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

When you use Google Maps, information about your use of this website (including your IP address) may be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. Google may transfer the information collected through Maps to third parties if required by law or if such third parties process this data on Google’s behalf. Google will under no circumstances associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. However, it cannot be ruled out that Google might be able to identify at least some individual users based on the data it receives. Thus, it is possible that personal data and user profiles of website users could be processed by Google for other purposes over which we have no control and cannot exert any influence. You have the option to disable the Google Maps service and thereby prevent the transfer of data to Google by disabling JavaScript in your browser. Please note, however, that in this case you will not be able to use the map display on our website.

For more information, please see Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

4. YouTube

Our website uses plugins from YouTube, a site operated by Google. The site is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.

When you visit one of our pages that includes a YouTube plugin, a connection is established with YouTube’s servers. In the process, the YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you allow YouTube to associate your browsing activity directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

We use YouTube to ensure that our online content is presented in an appealing way. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

For more information on how user data is handled, please see YouTube’s Privacy Policy at https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.

5. Google Fonts

This website uses “Google Fonts” provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Privacy Policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
Opt-Out: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

6. Facebook Pixel

With the help of the Facebook Pixel (or comparable functions for transmitting event data or contact information via interfaces in apps), Facebook is able, on the one hand, to identify visitors to our online platform as a target audience for displaying ads (so-called “Facebook Ads”). Accordingly, we use the Facebook Pixel to ensure that the Facebook Ads we place are shown only to those users on Facebook and within the services of Facebook’s partner networks (the so-called “Audience Network” https://www.facebook.com/audiencenetwork/ ) to those users who have also shown an interest in our online offering or who exhibit certain characteristics (e.g., interest in specific topics or products, as indicated by the websites they have visited) that we transmit to Facebook (so-called “Custom Audiences”). We also use the Facebook Pixel to ensure that our Facebook ads align with users’ potential interests and do not come across as intrusive. Furthermore, using the Facebook Pixel, we can track the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes by seeing whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad (so-called “conversion tracking”).

We are jointly responsible with Facebook Ireland Ltd. for the collection or receipt, as part of a transfer (but not the further processing), of “Event Data,” which Facebook collects using the Facebook Pixel and comparable functions (e.g., interfaces) running on our website, or receives as part of a transfer, for the following purposes: a) Displaying content and advertising information that corresponds to users’ presumed interests; b) Delivery of commercial and transaction-related messages (e.g., contacting users via Facebook Messenger); c) Improving ad delivery and personalizing features and content (e.g., improving the ability to identify which content or advertising information is likely to match users’ interests). We have entered into a special agreement with Facebook (“Addendum for Controllers,” https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum), which specifically outlines the security measures Facebook must adhere to (https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/data_security_terms) and in which Facebook has agreed to comply with data subject rights (i.e., users can, for example, submit requests for information or deletion directly to Facebook). Note: When Facebook provides us with metrics, analyses, and reports (which are aggregated—i.e., do not contain information about individual users and are anonymous to us), this processing does not take place under joint controllership but rather on the basis of a data processing agreement (“Data Processing Terms,” https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/dataprocessing) and the “Data Security Terms” (https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/data_security_terms) and, with regard to processing in the U.S., on the basis of standard contractual clauses (“Facebook-EU Data Transfer Addendum,” https://www.facebook.com/legal/EU_data_transfer_addendum).

Users’ rights (in particular the right to access, erasure, objection, and filing a complaint with the competent supervisory authority) are not restricted by the agreements with Facebook.

Types of data processed: Usage data (e.g., websites visited, interest in content, access times), meta/communication data (e.g., device information, IP addresses), event data (Facebook) (“Event data” refers to data that may be transmitted by us to Facebook—for example, via Facebook Pixel (through apps or other means)—and that relates to individuals or their actions; This data includes, for example, information about website visits, interactions with content and features, app installations, product purchases, etc.; the event data is processed for the purpose of creating target audiences for content and advertising (Custom Audiences); Event Data does not include the actual content (such as comments posted), login information, or contact information (i.e., no names, email addresses, or phone numbers). Event data is deleted by Facebook after a maximum of two years; the target audiences created from this data are deleted when our Facebook account is deleted.

Data subjects: Users (e.g., website visitors, users of online services).

Purposes of processing: Marketing, profiles containing user-related information (creation of user profiles), remarketing, conversion tracking (measuring the effectiveness of marketing activities), audience targeting, audience targeting (identifying target audiences relevant for marketing purposes or other content delivery).
Security measures: IP masking (pseudonymization of the IP address).

Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1), first sentence, subparagraph (a) of the GDPR), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1), first sentence, subparagraph (f) of the GDPR).
Option to Opt Out: Please refer to the privacy policies of the respective providers and the opt-out options specified by them. If no explicit opt-out option has been provided, you have the option of disabling cookies in your browser settings. However, this may limit certain features of our online service. We therefore also recommend the following opt-out options, which are summarized and organized by region: a) Europe: https://www.youronlinechoices.eu. b) Canada: https://www.youradchoices.ca/choices. c) USA: https://www.aboutads.info/choices. d) Global: https://optout.aboutads.info.

IV. Disclosure of Catalog and Content Data to Third Parties

We will only disclose your personal data to third parties if you have given us your consent to do so, or if this is necessary to fulfill existing contractual, or to enforce claims to which we are entitled, or if MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG is required to do so by law or by a court or administrative order.

We reserve the right to use service providers when collecting or processing data. We provide service providers only with the personal data they need to perform their specific tasks. For example, your email address may be shared with a service provider so that it can deliver a newsletter or bulletin to which you have subscribed. Service providers may also be commissioned to provide server capacity. Service providers are generally engaged as so-called data processors, who are only permitted to process the personal data of users of this online service in accordance with our instructions.

V. Links to Other Websites

The website www.motorworld.de may contain links to websites operated by other providers. Once you click on a link, MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG no longer has any control over the processing of any personal data (such as your IP address or the URL where the link is located) that may be transferred to third parties when you click on the link. MOTORWORLD Consulting GmbH & Co. KG cannot assume any responsibility for the processing of such personal data by third parties.

You have the right to have data that we process automatically based on your consent provided to you or to a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request that the data be transferred directly to another data controller, this will be done only to the extent that it is technically feasible.
