The name changes, the passion remains

Klassikwelt Bodensee to be known as MOTORWORLD Classics Bodensee from 2018 with a greater focus on the mobility experience

Among the classic car trade fairs and events in Germany, Klassikwelt Bodensee is renowned for its special charm and exceptional event character. The venue, Friedrichshafen, embodies the history of mobility – in the air, on land and on water – like no other. A new partnership has been created with the aim of expanding the successful concept even further. Messe Friedrichshafen GmbH and the MOTORWORLD Group will be jointly organising the trade fair on Lake Constance for the first time in 2018 on May 25-27. The new name – MOTORWORLD Classics Bodensee – stands for a charming and at the same time strong course of action with a future.

Friedrichshafen can justifiably claim to be one of the pivotal cradles of mobility. Here is where the visions of airship inventor Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin, engine builder Carl Maybach, aircraft designer Claude Dornier, and transmission engineer Alfred Graf von Soden-Fraunhofen, were born. As both pioneers and peers, they set milestones, and put the world in motion. “From the outset, this impressive history was a powerful source of inspiration for Klassikwelt Bodensee,” is how Klaus Wellmann, Managing Director of Messe Friedrichshafen, explains the unique charm of the exhibition, which takes place every year in the spring. “Spatially, substantially and at the same time stylishly, it brings these roots back to life every year like no other event of its kind in Germany.”

Andreas Dünkel, CEO of the MOTORWORLD Group, adds: “We will be taking up on this precious heritage, which incidentally is still very much alive in Friedrichshafen today, and we will also build on a trade fair concept that is already extremely successful.” For Klassikwelt Bodensee is far more than the scene meeting place in southern Germany. A unique aspect is the connection between mobility on land, water and in the air – with an experience-oriented and at the same time relaxed vehicle and commercial offering which attracts an extremely broad spectrum of visitors.

No other trade fair of its kind in Germany offers such a wide variety of experiences in the outdoor area. This unusual concept becomes visible and palpable on the way to the venue: classic car races, show drives, parades, air shows and even vintage camping, through to boat trips, bring movement into the happenings. “Klassikwelt Bodensee celebrates mobile fascination in all its dimensions, and combines the classic sales trade fair with a dynamic event. “The offer is broadly diversified – we appreciate exclusive gullwings just as much as well-maintained classic cars and modern classics in the lower price segment for smaller budgets,” says Roland Bosch, project manager of Klassikwelt Bodensee. “All of this convinced us to enter into the partnership, because the fascination for mobility in all its facets – classic cars, modern classics, motorcycles, luxury cars, and much more besides – is impressive and sustainable,” adds Andreas Dünkel. That is why the MOTORWORLD Group, which meanwhile is literally creating space for mobile passion in many locations both in Germany and abroad, is climbing into the ring with concentrated power and creativity.

Experiencing the mobility and style of the good old days
Together, the new partners want to expand the mobility experience even further. MOTORWORLD Classics Bodensee will be activating yet more potential for public visitors with additional event attractions. They should immerse themselves in a fascinating world devoted to everything that moves. All kinds of classic vehicles will continue to take centre stage, and will be complemented by even more highlights from the classic car and modern classic scene, a fascinating programme, as well as the already traditional racing and air shows. Not only that, as already epitomised by the sister trade fair MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin, the lifestyle theme will be a hugely important aspect at the experience trade fair on Lake Constance. Exhibitors and visitors alike will be animated to become part of this world of classic mobility with the matching look and feel.

Appealing added value for exhibitors
The greater experience orientation at MOTORWORLD Classics Bodensee will create additional incentives for exhibitors as well. Alongside the expert and scene audience, new target groups can be addressed, and customers can be won over to buy their first classic car or modern classic, or the requisite parts and accessories. Furthermore, the bridge between the MOTORWORLD Classics trade fairs in Berlin and on Lake Constance, as well as to the entire MOTORWORLD Group, will open up an appealing added value for exhibitors. Whether tenants at the locations or other partners of the group – the synergies are diverse, and offer new opportunities for establishing valuable business contacts over the network and the infrastructure of the MOTORWORLD Group, and for becoming more visible to their customers. In doing so, they become a real part of the scene.

MOTORWORLD Classics Bodensee 2018 will take place on May 25-27. Mobility enthusiasts from far and wide should make a note of the date now, since there will be much to experience.

About Klassikwelt Bodensee 2017
Klassikwelt Bodensee will be taking place for the tenth time on May 19-21, 2017, at the Friedrichshafen exhibition centre. Around 38,000 visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France are expected to attend the fair over the three days. Alongside the many prestigious car dealers and private vendors, Klassikwelt Bodensee also offers a full assortment for those searching for spare parts and accessories. The diversity extends from automotive rarities, motorcycles and exclusive boats, through to classic accessories for owners of collectors’ vehicles. At last year’s trade fair, over 800 exhibitors, clubs and participants occupied ten halls covering an area of 85,000 square metres. And in the tenth year of its existence, the classic car trade fair in the Zeppelin town of Friedrichshafen continues to offer every fan many highlights.

Another reason why Friedrichshafen is held in such high regard by exhibitors is because the facilities, quality, and delivery of the trade fair halls meet the very highest standards. The peripherals and infrastructure, with the airport opposite the site, are perfect. MOTORWORLD, itself an exhibitor at Klassikwelt since many years, finds it is easy to make this judgement.

Opening times and admission charges for Klassikwelt Bodensee 2017
Klassikwelt Bodensee 2017 will be open daily between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Friday, May 19, to Sunday, May 21. The day ticket costs 16 euros, reduced admission 14 euros.

On October 5-8, 2017, in Germany’s most international metropolis with its long automotive history, the historic halls of Berlin’s ExpoCenter and the summer garden in the shadow of the radio tower will once again create acres of space for an entire world in the style of the good old days: the trade fair for classic cars – MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin. About the MOTORWORLD Group
The first location, MOTORWORLD Region Stuttgart, opened in 2009 on the site of the former Württemberg state airport in Böblingen/ Sindelfingen. The site has meanwhile been expanded several times, and is today the largest private and maker-neutral classic car and sports car centre world-wide. Further projects and activities under the MOTORWORLD® brand have been initiated in recent years. Yet another concept with a focus on handicrafts and DIY mechanics is currently under development at the two MOTORWORLD Manufaktur cottage industry sites in Berlin and Metzingen. 2015 also saw the inauguration of an annual classic car trade fair, MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin.
