Passion, style, and… swing
Warm-Up at MOTORWORLD Köln – Rheinland
Anyone who would like to gain a first impression of what it will be like when an entire world of motoring passion moves onto the site of Cologne’s former airport at Butzweilerhof shouldn’t miss this date! The first Warm-Up event at MOTORWORLD Köln – Rheinland will be held on Sunday, 2nd April 2017. With free admission, visitors can marvel at countless motoring treasures – classic cars, racing cars, rarities, super cars and bikes –, talk shop with clubs, learn how the construction of Motorworld is progressing, and last but not least, take to the dance floor to music from the 1920s through to the 1940s. All of this is intended to give a foretaste of the new and versatile mobility centre and event location at the Nicolaus August Otto Park in the Ossendorf district of Cologne, which will be celebrating its opening in 2018. The private collection of Michael Schumacher will then also be on display here as a permanent exhibition.
Germany’s most successful private racing team, which is likewise based in Ossendorf, won’t be missing from the Warm-Up for Motorworld Köln – Rheinland either. Kremer Racing will be presenting several of its vehicles and lending the event a true racing feeling. Other dealers are also expected to attend with some especially rare pre-war cars. The ADAC truck will be providing for a great atmosphere and information on the theme of automobiles. The German motoring club has also announced that it will be bringing along several historic cars from its own collection. And so that visitors know what true treasures are actually driving onto the Butzenweilerhof site, classic car expert Jürgen Cüpper from ADAC Nordrhein will be moderating the entrance of the classic cars and collectors’ vehicles, and asking their drivers to reveal some interesting facts about their vehicles.
Co-organiser Gerhard Breuer from the Rhineland branch of the Allgemeiner Schnauferl-Club will be reporting on the Warm-Up: “I am particularly pleased about the positive response and participation of numerous regional classic car and motor sport clubs. Their members are the best points of contact for shop talk and the sharing of experiences among car lovers.”
However, the Warm-Up for Motorworld Köln – Rheinland will be worth a visit not only for scene aficionados. Local residents and curious visitors, young and old alike, are also welcome to take up on the invitation to attend the event. Guided tours of the construction site will be informing interested visitors about the progress of the renovation and expansion work, which will carry Butzweilerhof forward into a new and vibrant future. An Airstream diner and other stalls will be selling savoury and sweet culinary treats. And there will also be plenty of entertainment for those who enjoy dancing in the style of the good old days. In the historic reception hall of the old airport, Stephan Wuthe and the Bernd Lier ensemble will be enticing visitors to the swing matinee.
From 10 a.m. on Sunday, 2nd April 2017, the call at Motorworld Köln – Rheinland will be: On your marks with passion, style and… swing!
