MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin 2018
Classic car trade fair brings golden years back to life
The classic car trade fair MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin is much more than just an automobile show with exhibits from years gone by. This international event, which will be taking place again in the historic halls of Berlin’s ExpoCenter on October 4-7, 2018, is a lifestyle event and a journey into the past. New this year is the “Long Night of Classic Cars”, which will open the fair on October 4.
Classic cars and classics-to-be, premium sports cars, classic motorcycles, historic commercial vehicles, model cars, retro toys, accessories, fashion articles, and much more beside – MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin is an experience not only for vehicle enthusiasts, automobile clubs and scene fans. Past times are brought back to life in the summer garden and the historic halls in the shadow of Berlin’s radio tower. For not only are the fair’s ambience and entertainment programme designed and organised entirely in the swinging style of the 1920s to 1950s. The MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin team and many exhibitors will also be wearing attire in the style of the good old times, and visitors are invited to do the same.
National and international automobile manufacturers with historical roots, leading dealers, technical specialists, numerous committed clubs, together with private individuals and their automotive treasures, will be presenting themselves at the fair over an area covering around 45,000 square metres. Fans of two-wheelers can once again look forward in 2018 to special motorcycle highlights in the “Maschinenraum” and “Motodrom” sections. The popular parts market, where spare parts, accessories and automobile memorabilia are on offer, will also be taking place again, but this year it will be accommodated in its own hall of about 2,500 square metres in size.
Long Night of Classic Cars
This year will see the first edition of the “Long Night of Classic Cars” on October 4, 2018. In the evening of the opening event for MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin, visitors will be able to experience walking acts and various events organised by the exhibitors, and encounter racing sport legends or perhaps one or the other celebrity. On this day, the fair will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and every visitor will be welcomed with a glass of champagne.
“Berliner Bären” for classic car clubs and exhibitors
The classic car clubs are the fuel that power the scene, and a key element of MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin. The trade fair dedicates its own area to them – and it will certainly be something quite special. Those clubs that design their exhibition booth under a motto of their choice will automatically take part in the club competition. A jury will this year once again be awarding a “Berliner Bär” to the three most attractive and original club booths. However, not only the clubs, but also exhibits displayed by the exhibitors will be honoured in typical Berlin-like manner in the categories “Dit Originalste”, “Dit Seltenste”, “Dit Knuffigste” and “Dit Beste” (“The most original”, “The rarest”, “The most adorable”, and “The Best of Show”).
Private vehicle market in the summer garden
See and be seen – there will be plenty of opportunities to do precisely that at MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin. All privately owned classic cars bearing H-plates or which are at least 30 years of age are cordially invited to park free of charge in the summer garden. Private vehicle sellers who do not want to exhibit their classic cars in the hall can reserve a parking space here as well. All vehicles entering the summer garden will be charmingly and professionally greeted by commentator and scene expert Johannes Hübner.
Lifestyle of the good old times
Visitors to MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin can immerse themselves in the lifestyle of bygone times. Be it chauffeured classic car rides or the diverse event programme – the golden age of the last century will be brought back to life in Berlin. Musical entertainment will be provided by artists such as “Die Herr’n von der Tankstelle”, who interpret evergreens with much nostalgic charm. The Rufus Temple Orchestra, dedicated to playing the finest pearls of 1920s’ hot jazz and ragtime, presents a dance-inducing spectacle with great attention to detail.
International location with an automotive history
What many people do not realise is that the location for MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin can look back on a glorious automotive history. Germany’s first international motor vehicle exhibition took place in the capital city in 1899. Not only that, Berlin and Brandenburg were once home to the country’s largest automobile manufacturers, alongside many small, innovative car makers and vehicle body builders. Berlin is a popular hot spot that attracts guests, racing and motor sport legends, as well as celebrities, from all over the world. This international character is also evident at MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin. Among the 28,500 people who attended the classic car trade fair in 2017 were many international visitors.
The annual MOTORWORLD Classics Berlin classic car trade fair, which first opened its doors in 2015, is organised by MoWo Messe- und Veranstaltungs GmbH & Co. KG and Messe Berlin GmbH.
