Munich, 31 May 2023. Truly a moving event \u2013 the presentation of the “Motorworld Book Prize 2023” on Tuesday, 30 May, at Motorworld M\u00fcnchen. The most fascinating and interesting new car books were selected from around 70 submissions: a total of 21 literary works dealing with various aspects of mobility made the running in the categories “Brand”, “Biography”, “Motor Sport”, “Design” and “History”. Several special prizes were also awarded.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The many different topics of the award-winning books ranged from documentaries focusing on the history or models of Tatra, BMW, Glas or Harley Davidson, through to biographies of racing drivers such as Kurt Ahrens and Eberhard Mahle and a literary journey through the history of Italian car design. The jury was also impressed by a N\u00fcrburgring album that excellently reflects the zeitgeist of the 1960s with amateur photographs, or a book containing previously unpublished photographs by Edward Quinn, who captured the major motor sport events in Monaco in the 1950s and 1960s \u2013 including lifestyle, glamour and celebrities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Absolute stand-out entries were an insight into the garage of the last Shah of Iran, which also covers the history of Iranian society and automobile culture, as well as a comprehensive work on the history of e-mobility from 1881 to tomorrow. Two special surprises were the comprehensive presentations of Japanese automobile history and of the Porsche 962, for which the jury created an extra category called “Beyond Everything”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MOTORWORLD Book Prize
<\/strong>The Motorworld Book Prize honours outstanding literary works dedicated to the topics of automobiles and mobility. The car book prize was initiated by motoring journalist, automotive historian and author J\u00fcrgen Lewandowski some 20 years ago. The Motorworld Group has been involved as organiser for six years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s awards were supported by BASF Coatings GmbH and the AvD (Automobilclub von Deutschland).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MOTORWORLD Group

Locations in keeping with the Motorworld Manufaktur concept are to be found in Berlin, R\u00fcsselsheim and Zurich. The Motorworld Village Metzingen focuses on events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To satisfy the ever-increasing requirements where environmental protection and efficiency are concerned, the Motorworld Group relies on regenerative energy sources. Thanks to its proprietary photovoltaic systems and combined heat and power plants, it saves so much CO2 that it can call itself climate-neutral even when hosting a full programme of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
