MOTORWORLD Manufaktur Metzingen celebrates the first tenants moving in with a warm-up event on May 5
On May 5, 2019, Motorworld Manufaktur Metzingen will celebrate the moving-in of the first tenants BITTER Automotive and BOCKEMÜHL Classic Cars with a warm-up event. Between unusual vehicles and rare classics, visitors will be able to experience how new space for mobile passion is being created in the listed industrial buildings on Auchtertstrasse.
Motorworld Manufaktur Metzingen welcomes all automobile and motorcycle lovers from the local region to the warm-up, together with anyone else who would like to take a look at the historic halls between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. During the event, visitors can look forward to seeing vehicles from many eras, the numerous exhibitors, guided tours of the site, live music, blacksmith demonstrations, and a street food market. Admission is free.
On the Henning Schmiedetechnik site, Motorworld Manufaktur Metzingen is currently undergoing development into a vibrant place for classic mobility with workshops, showrooms, craftsmanship, accessory outlets, lifestyle shops, eateries, event areas, and a V8 hotel. To this end, the historic industrial buildings on the 21,000 square-metre-large site are gradually being lovingly refurbished, whereby the Mittlere Schmiede and Schmiede-Lounge are already being used in their original state as exceptional event locations.
The first building to be completed is the Alte Härtnerei, the old hardening shop, which will be occupied by BITTER Automotive. On offer: classic and new automobiles of the BITTER brand, as well as all kinds of supplies and accessories. The car manufacturer embellishes Opel models such as the Adam, Adam S, Mokka X or the Insignia. Then, as now, the projects all follow the same concept. BITTER Automotive packs Opel’s unproblematic and robust mass production technology into a beautiful mantle, and fits it out with top-class interior materials. For the opening, the company presents not only its offerings, but also its enthralling history.
BOCKEMÜHL Classic-Cars will also be moving into the Alte Härterei and the arched roof building located directly on Auchtertstrasse. Classic car enthusiasts will be in their element here. At BOCKEMÜHL Classic-Cars, you can buy and sell premium-quality classic cars, and entrust them to the master workshop for restoration, repairs or servicing, or have them professionally refurbished by the experienced craftsmen.
The hearts of motorcycle fans will beat faster in the spring of 2020 when the Bike Schmiede Metzingen opens its Heritage Store. Here you will find authentic Indian bikes from Indian Motorcycle, top-quality motorcycle clothing and accessories, exclusive whisky and Laura Chavin cigars, as well as the barber “Jack the Ripper”. In keeping with the service concept of “More bike, more experiences”, Bike Schmiede Metzingen also organises test rides and excursions to events over the Alps, etc. The company has been specialising in customising motorised US two-wheelers for over 25 years now.
Motorworld Manufaktur Metzingen is located just 35 kilometres from Stuttgart on the edge of the Swabian Alb region, in the immediate vicinity of the internationally renowned outlet town of Metzingen. The revitalisation of the site will create numerous new jobs in the next few years. The classic manufacturing trade complements the factory outlet shops. The planned expansion with eateries, hotels, together with event and conference areas, will enhance the location and make it attractive for both the local population and companies alike. The project is being planned and accompanied by Stuttgart-based architects CIP.
About the MOTORWORLD Group
The independent MOTORWORLD Group emerged from the DÜNKEL Holding corporate group based in Schemmerhofen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany). The origins of the family-run company go back to 1933. The Motorworld Group develops, builds and operates experience worlds that are dedicated to mobile passion.
The first location was Motorworld Region Stuttgart in Böblingen, which opened in 2009 and has since been expanded several times, winning several awards along the way. Further projects and activities under the MOTORWORLD® brand have been initiated in recent years. Following on with the same concept as Motorworld Region Stuttgart, Motorworld Köln | Rheinland opened in June 2018. Two further locations are currently under development: Motorworld München and Motorworld Zeche Ewald-Ruhr, Herten. The starting signal for the construction of Motorworld Mallorca is due to be given shortly.
The portfolio will be complemented by the Motorworld Manufaktur locations in Berlin, Metzingen, Rüsselsheim and Zurich. As their names suggest, the space for mobile passion at these locations will focus in particular on good old handicraft skills.
The Motorworld idea also regularly goes on tour, including to the annual classic car trade fairs Motorworld Classics Berlin and Motorworld Classics Bodensee in Friedrichshafen, to scene events such as the Motorworld Oldtimertage at Fürstenfeld (near Munich), as well as in numerous other guises.
The “IAA Heritage by Motorworld” rounds off the Motorworld Group’s event portfolio both regionally and thematically. Existing formats and locations thus mesh perfectly with one another. They all abide by the motto “Space for mobile passion”, interpreting it in many different facets.
