Ignition on!

Fascinating classic cars entice visitors on the first Oktoberfest weekend to the MOTORWORLD Oldtimertage Fürstenfeld

Oktoberfest fan or not: Anyone who has a great passion for fascinating classic cars and motorcycles as well should also find some time to visit the Motorworld Oldtimertage Fürstenfeld on September 16-17. For this year’s edition, the organisers have gathered together a whole host of motoring treats, among them Michael Schumacher’s 1994 Benetton-Ford B194-5. Just a few days ago, his son Mick drove a lap of honour at Spa in this especially valuable Formula 1 car, attracting much attention worldwide.

This popular meeting place for both fans of sophisticated classic automobiles and families with children will be taking place for the 13th time. Alongside Schumacher’s legendary F1 car, many more motoring highlights will be attracting visitors to Fürstenfeld Monastery on the outskirts of Munich. Awaiting them will be hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles from numerous eras, among them some extremely exotic and rare models, the parts market for “treasure hunters”, a classic car auction on the Saturday at 1 p.m., and a newly devised Concours d’Elegance on the Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. The four competition categories – Classic, 70 Jahre Ferrari (70 Years of Ferrari), Werbeautos (Advertising Cars) and Little Italy – promise a charming and appealing diversity of classic vehicles that just have to be seen.

The organisers are expecting to welcome over 150 exhibitors and more than 1,500 vehicles to the parks around the monastery. Visitors should also definitely keep a lookout for the numerous participating clubs, since they frequently offer test drives in their motoring gems.

Invitation to a picnic

The most relaxing way to spend the Oldtimertage is with a beautiful picnic right next to the stream in front of the monastery. Visitors dressed in traditional Bavarian attire, in the style of the good old times, or simply in a summer suit or dress, will be able to enjoy a stylish picnic without having to bring anything themselves. Baskets, blankets, food and beverages will be provided by the organisers. Visitors travelling to Fürstenfeldbruck by suburban train can also choose to make use of the free shuttle service with its two genuine vintage buses.
